Helping with Sex Addictions and More

Alix Stockwood, LICSW, of Providence, has been providing mental health care at AIDS Project Rhode Island (APRI) for nearly 15 years, helping hundreds of clients wrestle with emotional issues surrounding HIV/AIDS and life in general.

“Over the years HIV/AIDs treatments have improved and people are living longer,” she said. But, from a mental health perspective, people with HIV/AIDS often continue to need counseling for loneliness, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, stress and more. She’s been helping with these challenges for many years, with one of her specialties being sex addiction and other types of addictions.
