Get Away

Once again, it's time for the Provincetown Business Guild’s Annual Carnival. And, this year is sure to be the best yet as they mark our 30th Anniversary. Carnival is a week long event and is a cross between Mardi Gras and Gay Pride. But, whereas gay pride festivals tend to be more regionalized events, Carnival attracts visitors from all around the world. And, while our target market is the GLBT community, we invite people from all walks of life and orientation to join us in our celebration.

In 2007 approximately 100,000 people lined 2.5 miles of Commercial Street for our Annual Parade (THURSDAY, AUGUST 21, 2008)

> Tens of thousands of people stay in our guest houses, inns, hotels, condos, etc. every night during Carnival. Most of our accommodations require a 7 night minimum during Carnival.

> Tens of thousands of people visit Provincetown for the day during Carnival.

> An auction will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2008. It’s the perfect opportunity to reach the GLBT community. Please do not hesitate to contact Don Knuuttila at 508.247.7238 or don@ptown.org.

In 1978, a group of local business owners who understood the value and economic impact the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender community had on Provincetown founded the Provincetown Business Guild (PBG) to ensure that Ptown, already established as a gay haven, remained a premier gay destination. Today, the PBG, a non-profit, 501(C) (6) membership organization is one of the oldest destination marketing organizations promoting to and producing events for the GLBT community.
