Expression of Forms,
Shapes and Colors
Oil Paintings by José Canencia
Opening night reception:

GALLERY NIGHT RECEPTION:
August 21, 5–10pm
Gallery 17 Peck is proud
host the son of José Canencia
as he presents his father’s new
original oil works on canvas.
“His work appears figurative
at first glance, but the figures
caught in motion remain as
mysterious as their actions.
This narrative ambiguity signals
a departure from traditional
representation and sets his
work apart from the bulk of
portraiture saturating the
market. But it is Canencia’s
masterful gesture that propels
the paintings into the a higher
realm of fine art.”
“The Inspiration comes from
the expression of forms,
shapes and colors,” reveals
Canencia. “I’m not especially
concerned with anecdotal
aspects but I do care very
much about aesthetics.” |
